The Old Tainan Watercourse is a largely overlooked historical site, a water treatment facility constructed by the Japanese administration prior to World War One. It remained in use until the 1970s and provides insight into both Japanese and earlier Chinese influences on Taiwanese life. The site is characterized by its quiet atmosphere, allowing visitors to explore the old buildings and ponds at their own pace. Located near the city of Sin Hua, it's often combined with visits to the Japanese-era architecture and traditional Fuchian-style homes in that area. English signage and brochures are available, making it accessible to international travelers.
