Mount Hermonit

Mount Hermonit reserve offers a compelling and sobering experience for those interested in military history, particularly the 1973 Yom Kippur War. Situated in the Golan Heights, the reserve provides an unparalleled view of the Valley of Tears (Emek HaBakha), the site of intense fighting between Israeli and Syrian forces. Unlike the busier Mount Bental, Mount Hermonit offers a more contemplative atmosphere. Visitors can observe numerous tanks – Israeli, Syrian, British, and American – scattered across the landscape and within the reserve, serving as stark reminders of the conflict. A memorial honors the Israeli tankers lost in battle, and a nearby center features a moving film detailing the events of the war.
