Sayil is a significant Mayan archaeological site located on the Ruta Puuc in Yucatán, Mexico. Established between 800 and 1000 A.D., it once housed an estimated population of 17,000. The site is characterized by its unique architectural styles and a sprawling layout, with the Palacio as its most prominent feature. While the entire area is extensive, many structures are less restored than those at other sites like Uxmal, offering a sense of discovery. Sayil was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1996, recognizing its cultural and historical importance.
