About About the place

Pointe-à-Callière is a museum dedicated to the archaeology and history of Montreal, uniquely situated on the very site of the city’s original settlement dating back to 1642. The museum allows visitors to descend beneath the modern city to explore actual archaeological remains – including foundations, walls, and even remnants of early infrastructure like sewer systems. These tangible ruins are combined with informative exhibits, multimedia presentations, and rotating temporary displays, offering a compelling journey through Montreal’s evolution from its Indigenous roots through French and British settlements. The museum consistently strives to blend historical artifacts with modern technology, creating an immersive and educational experience for visitors of all ages.

It was a pleasing and an interesting visit to this great museum. They had a huge collection of fascinating artefacts and culturally infused items. I really enjoyed a few parts of it. It is quite big so you might feel a little bored in between. You can skip through whatever doesn't interest you.

Our visit to this place has been both educational and fun. My kids were so excited about the visit that it kind of made my day. Our guide was extra sweet and special and made sure all of us had a good time. He made sure we get to know all the facts and history of this place. I am really thankful to him.

I always wanted to visit this city as it was on my bucket list and there is so much to see here that you really really fell in love with the culture, the buildings, the people and the food of this place. We took the tour package where the guide took us to all the main spots and apart from it, we were able to enjoy so much at the markets of the city and shopped so much stuff.

The cafe is a little place situated in the middle of the buzzing market of the city and is a cute little place with a really warm ambience and very nice and friendly people and staff. The food was great and had a lot of amazing local flavors. It was totally worth the visit and we really enjoyed the food and hospitality.

We were so excited to visit this place but were thoroughly disappointed while reaching and looking at the mismanaged affair. The place was crowded with tourists and there was no system to arrange them. The staff was also very rude.
