Charity Begins at Home is a well-established charity shop dedicated to serving the Kelso community and supporting deserving causes. The shop offers a diverse selection of donated items, including clothing, books, toys, household goods, and jewelry, all at very reasonable prices. A smaller adjacent shop specializes in toys. The organization is staffed entirely by volunteers, and all proceeds are reinvested back into the local area, benefiting numerous groups and organizations. It was recognized with a Medal from the Queen for its community contributions.
This shop is ideal for bargain hunters, those looking to support local charities, and families with children.
The shop is open year-round, so any season is suitable.
Weekdays may be less crowded than weekends. Any time of day is suitable, but visiting during off-peak hours may provide a more relaxed browsing experience.
Information regarding accessibility is not explicitly provided in the source text. The shop is described as 'tiny', which may present challenges for those with mobility issues. Further investigation is recommended.
The shop has a separate toy shop, making it appealing to families with children. However, the small size of the main shop may make it difficult to navigate with strollers.
