Coats Observatory, one of only four public observatories in the UK, is a significant landmark in Paisley. Originally donated by the Coats family, it houses a 10-inch telescope and a fascinating collection of astronomical instruments. Visitors can explore the observatory's history, learn about astronomy through guided tours and planetarium shows, and, on clear nights, observe the stars through telescopes. The observatory also recorded the San Francisco earthquake of 1906 and is closely linked to Paisley Museum.
