The Catherine Watson Monument is a striking granite cross commemorating the bravery of Catherine Watson, who, at the age of 19, perished while saving a young boy in East Bay. Erected in 1889, the memorial stands near the remnants of an old church and the Sea Life Centre. The cross itself is crafted from Peterhead Granite, and the land was generously gifted by Sir Walter H. Dalrymple. A Fine Arts and Crafts Plaque, created by colleagues at the Glasgow School of Art, further enhances the memorial's artistic significance. It serves as a lasting tribute to her selfless act and a reminder of the area's history.
