The Cheese Market Edam is a seasonal recreation of a historical cheese market that originally operated from 1526 to 1922, and was revived in 1989. Held primarily as a tourist attraction, the market features demonstrations of cheese trading, complete with costumed vendors and a brass band. While the traditional cheese auction no longer takes place, visitors can enjoy the spectacle, purchase cheese and other local products, and explore the picturesque town of Edam. The market is held on Wednesdays and Saturdays during the summer months.
