Rendez Vous

The Gemeentegrot in Valkenburg is a unique attraction offering a journey through a historic cave system. Originally a limestone quarry, the caves served as shelter for the local population during both World War II and the Cold War. Visitors can explore remnants of these times, including a chapel created by priests, wartime shelters, and a massive nuclear fallout shelter designed for up to 15,000 people. The cave walls are adorned with art and carvings, adding to the immersive experience. Tours are available both on foot and via a guided 'train' ride.
