SPOT-Taipei Film House is a multifaceted cultural space housed in a beautifully preserved building that formerly served as the US consulate and residence of American ambassadors to Taiwan. Saved from demolition by civic activists, it now functions as an art house cinema showcasing films often unavailable in mainstream theaters, alongside a cafe, art gallery, and a small shop specializing in art, film, and music-related items. The building’s architecture reflects a Southern US antebellum mansion style, dating back to the Japanese colonial period. It’s a popular gathering place for Taipei’s artistic and intellectual community.
