Fort Duvernette

Fort Duvernette is a historic fortification situated on a small island off the coast of St. Vincent. Reached by boat, visitors ascend approximately 255 steps to reach the fort, which features cannons and batteries positioned 200 feet above sea level. The fort provides panoramic views of St. Vincent, the Grenadines, and the surrounding Caribbean Sea. Originally built by the British, the site has undergone repairs and upgrades over the years, including significant work in 1969. Snorkeling opportunities are available in the channel between the fort and Young Island. The island experienced a partial collapse some years ago, so caution is advised.
