Visitors can expect to observe large gatherings of elephants, often numbering between 30 and 50 or more, including mothers and calves. While the park offers remarkable wildlife viewing opportunities, it is also known for its somewhat disorganized nature and potential for overcrowding, with numerous jeeps often converging on sightings. The terrain is generally bumpy, and the roads can be rough, particularly during the wetter months. Beyond elephants, the park supports a variety of birdlife and occasional sightings of other wildlife.
This park is best suited for wildlife enthusiasts, particularly those interested in observing elephants in their natural habitat. It's a good option for families and those seeking an adventurous safari experience.
The dry season (July to September) is the best time to visit, as elephants congregate around water sources. However, the park is a good alternative to Minneriya and Kaudulla during the wetter months.
Weekdays are generally less crowded than weekends. Early morning or late afternoon are the best times to visit, as the animals are more active and the light is better for photography.
Accessibility is limited due to the rough, unpaved roads and uneven terrain. The park is not well-suited for individuals with mobility impairments. Safaris are conducted in open-top jeeps, which may not be accessible to all.
The park is generally considered suitable for children, but the bumpy roads may be uncomfortable for younger children. Stroller access is not possible. There are no dedicated changing rooms or kid-specific activities.
Pets are not allowed inside the park.
There are limited food facilities within the park itself. Visitors are advised to bring their own snacks and water. Restrooms are available at the entrance area, but facilities within the park are scarce.

We were so excited to visit this place but were thoroughly disappointed while reaching and looking at the mismanaged affair. The place was crowded with tourists and there was no system to arrange them. The staff was also very rude.

This was a beautiful park which has pretty scenery and lush greenery. It has walking pathways with proper trails lined with pretty trees and there are also plenty of benches to sit there for the people. The musical fountain was the highlight and it was amazing.
