Bonegi I and II are two Japanese transport ships sunk during World War II in 1942 while attempting to offload troops and supplies. Located off Bonegi Beach, approximately 12 kilometers west of Honiara, these wrecks now serve as artificial reefs teeming with marine life. Bonegi I is deeper and more challenging, while Bonegi II is shallower and suitable for snorkeling. The beach itself offers a relaxing atmosphere, though it can be affected by litter and requires a small entry fee paid to local landowners. A third wreck is also located further up the beach.
