The Chiesa del Santissimo Redentore, designed by Andrea Palladio, is a 16th-century church built as a votive offering in thanks for the end of the 1576 plague that devastated Venice. Located on the island of Giudecca, it stands prominently and is easily accessible by vaporetto. The church is renowned for its harmonious proportions, elegant facade, and relatively unadorned interior, allowing visitors to appreciate Palladio's architectural vision. It is a significant example of Venetian Renaissance architecture and a place of both historical and artistic importance. The annual Festa del Redentore, culminating in a spectacular bridge of boats, is a major event held here.
