Roshnai Gate, meaning 'Bright Gate,' is a prominent and well-preserved gate within Lahore's walled city. Originally designed to allow access to the Ravi River during the Mughal era, it was notably illuminated at night to guide travelers and showcase the city's grandeur. The gate served as a key entry point for rulers and was a focal point for royal visits to the river. Tragically, it was also the site of a political assassination in 1840, marking a turning point in the Sikh Empire's fate. Today, it stands as a testament to Lahore's rich history, situated between the Badshahi Mosque and Alamgir Gate, and is considered one of the few remaining gates in its original condition.
The place is so beautiful that I could not take my eyes off it. The place is a heritage building which has stunning architecture and the Victorian style walls are simply amazing. We visited the place on a weekday and it had a lot of people. But things were arranged in a proper way and we could have the tour nicely.
