Balahisar Attock Fort is a significant historical landmark situated on the banks of the Indus River and adjacent to the Khirabad Attock Bridge. Originally constructed between 1581 and 1583 under the direction of General Khawaja Shamsuddin Khawafi, it served as a crucial strategic point during the eras of the Suri Dynasty, the Mughal Empire under Akbar, and later the Sikh Confederacy. The fort played a role in conflicts involving Pashtun armies and Ranjit Singh's forces. Though currently a functioning military installation and inaccessible to the general public for interior exploration, it remains a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a notable sight for travelers along the Grand Trunk Road. It is particularly meaningful for Sikh pilgrims visiting the nearby town of Hasan Abdal.
The place is so beautiful that I could not take my eyes off it. The place is a heritage building which has stunning architecture and the Victorian style walls are simply amazing. We visited the place on a weekday and it had a lot of people. But things were arranged in a proper way and we could have the tour nicely.
