Gunpowder Magazine, Silos, WWII shelters & Battery

The Gunpowder Magazine, Silos, WWII shelters & Battery is a unique historical site located within the Cittadella in Victoria, Gozo. Originally constructed as a gunpowder magazine, the site evolved over time to include three massive grain silos designed to safeguard the population from famine during sieges, later repurposed for water storage. During World War II, portions of the complex served as air raid shelters. The site is maintained by volunteers and operates on a donation basis, offering visitors a glimpse into Gozo’s rich and layered past.
