Kinugasayama Park, located in Yokosuka, is a 7.4-hectare park celebrated for its approximately 3,000 cherry trees, predominantly Somei Yoshino. Originally established in 1904 as a memorial to those lost in the Russo-Japanese War, the park features a monument inscribed with '芳名不朽' (Eternal Names). The mountain's shape resembles a saddle, leading to its original name, '鞍掛山' (Kurumagasan), though it is now widely known as '衣笠山' (Kinugasayama). The park offers panoramic views of the surrounding area and serves as an eastern gateway to a hiking trail leading to Mount Daikoku, the highest peak in the Miura Peninsula. It has undergone restoration efforts to revitalize its cherry trees, ensuring its continued status as a premier cherry blossom viewing spot.
