The Fortezza Medicea, constructed in the 1500s upon earlier fortifications, stands prominently atop the highest point of Arezzo. Its star-shaped design features five bastions – La Spina, Belvedere, Della Chiesa, Ponte di Soccorso, and Diacciaia – and has been responsibly renovated. Today, the fortress is surrounded by gardens and statues, providing a pleasant parkland setting. It frequently hosts contemporary art exhibitions and serves as a venue for local markets and events. The structure, designed by Antonio de Sangallo the Younger, offers extensive views of the Arno valley and Pratomagno mountain.
We were so excited to visit this place but were thoroughly disappointed while reaching and looking at the mismanaged affair. The place was crowded with tourists and there was no system to arrange them. The staff was also very rude.
I did an 11 day tour in Iceland and it was awesome. The place is nothing I have ever seen and it was one of the best trips of my life. I went in June and the weather was great and clear. I visited all the main attractions and did some hiking and everything about this city seemed perfect. The best part was seeing the northern lights and being mesmerized by them. This place is definitely worth visiting.
