The Central Synagogue

The Central Synagogue in Haifa, located between Herzl and Herzog Streets in Hadar HaCarmel, is a significant religious building constructed in 1937 and subsequently renovated. It serves the Belz, Gur, and other communities, accommodating around 100 seats. While some find it unassuming, it holds importance as a center for Jewish worship and cultural events. The synagogue features an antique, wood-lined prayer sanctuary, a magnificent Holy Ark, and decorative elements including pillars, arches, inscribed tablets, and symbolic imagery. It is particularly lively during Erev Rosh Hashanah and Purim, with musical performances and festive celebrations.
