Belvedere House, the erstwhile residence of the Governor General of India, is now open to the public. This beautifully maintained building exemplifies colonial architecture and houses a permanent exhibition dedicated to key figures in India's independence movement. The exhibition, spanning two floors of the former ballroom, features audio-visual displays detailing the lives of Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay, Rabindranath Tagore, Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, and Shyama Prasad Mukherjee. Managed by the Archaeological Survey of India, the estate also includes the National Library and offers free entry.
