The Mumbai General Post Office is a significant landmark representing British colonial architecture in India. Constructed in the Indo-Saracenic style, the building was commissioned in 1913 and continues to serve as the central postal hub for Mumbai. Beyond its functional purpose, the GPO is admired for its imposing structure, historical significance, and well-maintained interiors. It also houses a philatelic bureau for stamp collectors and has recently hosted the inauguration of the first “Post Shoppe” in Maharashtra Circle. Its proximity to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CST) makes it easily accessible for tourists.
The place is so beautiful that I could not take my eyes off it. The place is a heritage building which has stunning architecture and the Victorian style walls are simply amazing. We visited the place on a weekday and it had a lot of people. But things were arranged in a proper way and we could have the tour nicely.
This historic building is so gorgeous and it looks absolutely stunning. If you are someone who is interested in history or old buildings, do visit this place and you will not regret it. It has been preserved for a few 100 years now and the vintage vibe of this place is so nice.
