Chitragupta Temple is a significant part of the Western Group of temples at Khajuraho, dedicated to Surya, the Hindu Sun God. Situated near the Jagadambi Temple, it showcases exceptional craftsmanship with detailed carvings adorning its walls. The temple's sanctum houses an idol of Surya standing in a chariot drawn by seven horses. Visitors are particularly drawn to the temple's unique sculptures, including depictions of sura-sundaris and couples in various poses, as well as the elusive 11-headed Vishnu carving. While smaller than some of the neighboring temples, Chitragupta Temple offers a rich and distinctive architectural experience.
We were planning for this vacation for a long time and it was really wonderful. Visiting these amazing places was a unique experience and we could make a day out of it enjoying and having interesting conversations with the locals. The people were really hospitable and warm and made sure we don't feel left out.
