Mattupetty Dam is a concrete gravity dam built in the 1950s across the Mattupetty River, a tributary of the Periyar River in Kerala, India. The dam has created a large artificial lake, which is a significant source of hydroelectric power and irrigation for the region. It's a favored destination for visitors seeking a tranquil escape and opportunities for boating. The surrounding landscape provides stunning views, making it a popular spot for photography. While the natural beauty is undeniable, some visitors have noted concerns regarding cleanliness around the lakeside.
We were so excited to visit this place but were thoroughly disappointed while reaching and looking at the mismanaged affair. The place was crowded with tourists and there was no system to arrange them. The staff was also very rude.
