The Chapel of St Sebastian, located in the charming Fontainhas area of Panjim, Goa, is a functioning Roman Catholic chapel built in 1818. It is distinguished by a crucifix that once resided in the Palace of the Inquisition in Old Goa, featuring the unique detail of Christ's open eyes. This feature was intentionally designed to instill fear in those brought before the Inquisitors during a period when religious conformity was enforced. The chapel is dedicated to St Sebastian, known for his miraculous interventions during plague outbreaks. The surrounding Fontainhas neighborhood, with its colorful buildings and narrow lanes, adds to the chapel's appeal.
The place is so beautiful that I could not take my eyes off it. The place is a heritage building which has stunning architecture and the Victorian style walls are simply amazing. We visited the place on a weekday and it had a lot of people. But things were arranged in a proper way and we could have the tour nicely.
