Purani Basti, meaning 'Old Colony,' is one of the oldest areas in Raipur, with roots tracing back to the 9th century. It's considered a significant cultural base of Central India and is believed to be the birthplace of the 'Turi hatri,' the earliest form of a commercial market. While not overtly tourist-focused, the area provides a unique window into the past, with ancient temples dating back to the 15th and 16th centuries, alongside bustling local markets and traditional homes. Modern amenities like markets, malls, and stadiums are also in close proximity.
This is a marvellous place and has many things to see. We took a road trip to see this place and the journey was also great. The views along the way are stunning and fill your heart with all the warmth. Once you reach there, you simply forget everything else and enjoy the scenic views and appreciate the beauty all around.
The place is so beautiful that I could not take my eyes off it. The place is a heritage building which has stunning architecture and the Victorian style walls are simply amazing. We visited the place on a weekday and it had a lot of people. But things were arranged in a proper way and we could have the tour nicely.
