Gandhi Hill is a prominent landmark in Vijayawada, situated atop a 500 ft hill. It features a 52 ft stupa dedicated to Mahatma Gandhi, unveiled in 1968. The hill also houses a Gandhi Memorial Library, a planetarium, and a sound and light show detailing Gandhi’s life. A toy train circles the hilltop, providing visitors with scenic views of Vijayawada, including Prakasam Barrage and Kanaka Durga temple. The area is popular with locals and offers a peaceful retreat with nominal entry fees.
Gandhi Hill is best suited for families with children, couples seeking a quiet retreat, history enthusiasts, and those looking for panoramic city views. It's also a convenient stop for travelers with time to spare near the railway station.
The cooler months (October to March) are the most pleasant for visiting.
Weekdays are generally less crowded than weekends. Early morning or evening are recommended to avoid the heat and enjoy the sunset or sunrise views.
Vehicles can drive up to a certain point on the hill, after which approximately 200 steps lead to the top. This presents a challenge for individuals with mobility issues. The planetarium and other facilities may have limited accessibility features. The terrain is uneven in places.
The toy train is a major draw for children, and there is a small play area available. Stroller access is limited due to the steps. Restrooms are available, but changing facilities may be basic.
Pets are generally not allowed inside the planetarium or on the toy train. Check local regulations regarding pets in public parks.

We had a great tour of this place thanks to our amazing guide and friend. He made sure that we know everything about the place and even went above and beyond with showing off things, being hospitable and having a great interaction with. The tour of the place was made awesome only because of his knowledge and kindness.
It is a great place to stay and gives you much luxury and comfort at a great price. The service is great and the management was very prompt and was very helpful and assisted us with everything. The rooms were big and spacious, well maintained and the views from the window of the city skyline was just stunning. Loved my experience here!
