The Ayuntamiento is a significant historical building located on the northern side of Plaza Central in Antigua, Guatemala. One of the first structures built in the city, it served as a government building and has undergone periods of both prominence and disrepair, particularly after the capital moved to Guatemala City. Today, it houses municipal offices, the Museo de Libro de Antigua (Antigua Book Museum), and the Museo de Santiago. Visitors appreciate its beautiful facade and the opportunity to explore the partially restored ruins at the back of the building. It is often adorned with lights, creating a picturesque scene, especially during evening processions.
