The 'Man Walking to the Sky' is a permanent outdoor sculpture created by American artist Jonathan Borofsky in 1992. Originally situated in front of the Fridericianum, Kassel’s main Documenta venue, it was saved by a public fundraising initiative. The artwork is a remnant of the Documenta art show, held every four years, and serves as a reminder of the event's impact on the city. It's conveniently located near Kassel's main train station (HBF), making it easily accessible to visitors. A similar sculpture exists in Esslingen am Neckar.
