The Hessendenkmal is a historical statue erected in the 18th century to honor the soldiers from Hesse who supported the King of Prussia in military campaigns. Situated along a common walking route between Zeil and Berger Strasse, it often goes unnoticed by those unfamiliar with its significance. The statue depicts the skin of the Nemean Lion, slain by Hercules, rather than a lion itself. While the surrounding architecture is described as functional rather than aesthetically pleasing, the statue is often considered a pleasant sight, particularly on sunny days.
