La Cite De La Dentelle Et De La Mode De Calais is a museum dedicated to the art and history of lace and fashion. Housed in a restored 19th-century lace factory, the museum showcases the evolution of lace-making techniques, from intricate handwork to the introduction of automated machinery. Exhibits feature historical costumes, contemporary fashion designs, and working demonstrations of antique lace-making machines. The museum also highlights the significant role Calais played in the lace industry, particularly after English lacemakers migrated to the city. Visitors can gain insight into the technical complexities of lace production and its cultural impact.
The cathedral is hundreds of years old and has a magnificent architecture. The murals and the walls are simply stunning. We got a chance to witness the prayer ceremony and it was divine. Do visit this place and do enjoy it.
