The Porte Serpenoise is a historical city gate in Metz, France. Its origins trace back to 1473 with the Duc of Lorraine, serving as a Roman portal known as 'Scarponisis' on the road to Lyon. The current structure was largely reconstructed between 1850 and 1904, and further modified in 1902-1903. Today, it marks the entrance to the 'rue Serpenoise', a popular shopping street. While not as grand as the Arc de Triomphe, it remains an attractive landmark and a convenient passage point for those traveling from the train station.
