Pudong Development Bank (Fazhan Yinhang)

Pudong Development Bank (Fazhan Yinhang) is a significant landmark on Shanghai's Bund, originally constructed in 1923 as the headquarters for the Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation (HSBC). It was once the second-largest building in the world. During the cultural revolution, stunning mosaics within the building were covered with plaster but were later rediscovered during restoration. Today, it functions as a fully operational bank, showcasing a blend of historical architecture and modern banking services. The building is renowned for its neoclassical design, impressive marble columns, and intricate mosaic ceiling representing the Greek Pantheon.
