Veliki Park is a compact green space situated in the heart of Sarajevo, near the main shopping streets and both the city center and Old Town. Despite its name, which translates to 'Big Park,' it's relatively small, covering less than one square kilometer. The park provides a tranquil setting for relaxation, featuring numerous benches and several notable monuments. Among these, the memorial dedicated to the children lost during the war is particularly moving. Visitors often note the presence of Ottoman-style tombstones scattered throughout the park, adding to its historical and cultural significance. The park's size is influenced by the narrow valleys typical of Bosnia, which limit the possibility of larger parklands.
