The Venus Gold Battery is a significant historical site in Charters Towers, Queensland, representing the region's rich gold mining past. Built in 1872, it served as the second ore crushing battery in the area and remained operational well into the 1970s. Today, it stands as the largest surviving battery relic in Australia and the oldest in Queensland. The site features much of the original machinery used in the gold extraction process, complemented by modern holographic displays and informative guided tours that detail the history of the battery, the town, and the lives of those involved in the gold rush.
