Paso Internacional Los Libertadores is a mountain pass through the Andes Mountains connecting Chile and Argentina. Situated at an elevation of approximately 3,500 meters (11,500 feet), it provides a crucial transportation route between the two countries. The journey is renowned for its dramatic scenery, including snow-capped peaks, rugged terrain, and opportunities to spot wildlife like condors and foxes. However, crossing the border can be a time-consuming process, often involving significant queues and bureaucratic procedures. The new border crossing construction aims to improve efficiency. The road itself is well-maintained and offers breathtaking views, particularly during the descent on the Chilean side with its numerous switchbacks.
